1. Purchase your fireworks from a reliable source

  2. Fireworks are for outdoors only

  3. Always read and follow the directions on the fireworks' label

  4. Fireworks require close adult supervision - always!

  5. Children under 6 years of age should not use sparklers

  6. Always drop used sparklers into a bucket of water when the sparkler is finished

  7. Always have a hose or bucket near you and the fireworks, filled with water on standby

  8. Only light one firework at a time

  9. Never re-light a "dud" firework (wait 15 to 20 minutes and then soak it in a bucket of water)

  10. Dispose of fireworks appropriately - soak them with water and then dispose of them properly

  11. Never throw or point fireworks at other people or animals

  12. Never carry fireworks in your pocket

  13. Never shoot fireworks into metal or glass containers

  14. Eye protection should always be worn by the shooter

  15. Do not mix alcohol and fireworks

  16. Provide a safe distance between the shooting site and the audience

  17. Consider the surrounding environment when shooting fireworks - avoid dry grass, uneven ground and windy conditions

  18. Use fireworks on a hard flat surface - grass is not suitable

  19. Do not smoke around fireworks

  20. Keep your pets inside while shooting fireworks

  21. Wear cotton clothing when shooting fireworks as it is more flame retardant than synthetics

  22. Never experiment or make your own fireworks

  23. If necessary, store fireworks in a cool dry place

  24. Use common sense when using fireworks
