The copper glaze adds a rich warm glow to this powder room.

Bronze, copper, pewter and stainless steel are not only popular finishes for lights, appliances and hardware, they are currently making an appearance on your walls too. Have you been wondering where the new trend is going when it comes to faux finishing? From copper powder rooms to bronze and pewter hallways; metallic faux finishes are adding the much sought after unique personality desired in homes today.

Looking for a way to complement that new copper vessel in your powder room? Try ragging on some copper metallic glaze over a brown base color. The warm romantic glow that's created on the walls will be exactly what you need to complete your room. For more dimension try blending in some pewter or bronze metallic glaze. Aged copper does not have a uniform color, black and green are apparent as well. You will achieve this look by adding that pewter and bronze.

Bronze and silver glazes are blended together to complement the tile and nickel plumbing fixtures in this master bath.

We went from shiny brass in the 1990's to the warmer, softer looking metals that are currently popular today. Out with the shiny brass chandelier and in with the bronze or pewter. By toning down the accessories, we're able to add some definite "bling" to our walls. Glaze is always a good option because it is translucent and allows you to see the first layer of color. Brushed metal is a technique that can create a contemporary look. A great way to accent a wall and coordinate it with all those modern stainless steel appliances. Applied with a dry brush in a random criss-cross pattern the angles and metallic sheen create a crisp looking finish.

Color selections can play a big role in the interior design of a room. For instance, this brushed metal technique looks contemporary over a neutral color base. However, it takes on an elegant oriental motif when gold is brushed over a red base.

If you're not ready to try metal in an entire room, try an accent area such as a range hood. Adding a variety of metallic glazes to your range hood is a perfect way to tie in the stainless steel appliances and pewter light fixtures, etc.
